Celebrating New Beginnings: A Custom Painting for a Beautiful New Bridal Store

You know those moments when everything just clicks? That’s exactly what happened when the wonderful team at Andrea Hawkes Bridal in London approached me with an idea for a commissioned piece to mark the launch of their new store. And let me tell you—it wasn’t just any painting. This was a celebration; a love letter to capture their journey so far and the exciting new chapter ahead. For me, I couldn't imagine a better brief.

The brief was equal parts imaginative and meaningful. The team had this brilliant concept: to take the outline formed by their past store locations and their new home, map it out, and use that unique shape as the foundation of the artwork. I mean—how poetic is that? A literal route of their journey translated onto the canvas.

But that wasn’t all.

They wanted to honour the female form too—elegant, strong, timeless and classic. Something abstract, something suggestive but not overt, that would sit beautifully in the store and make people feel something the moment they walked in.

The palette? Dreamy. Romantic. Sophisticated. They were using Farrow & Ball colours throughout the new space, and their mood boards were full of pinks—from dusky blush to rich, rosy hues. That instantly set the tone for the painting: soft, warm, feminine and full of heart.

What we ended up with was a piece that’s full of movement and texture, echoing the curves and flow of a gown in motion, but also grounded in the path they’ve taken as a team. The abstract form whispers of the female silhouette, with sweeping lines and bold brushstrokes
.
I wanted it to feel as though you’re standing in a moment—like the calm right before a bride steps out, the anticipation in the air, the love in every detail.

Now it hangs pride of place in their store, and every time I see a photo or hear someone mention it, I get excited all over again. There’s nothing quite like seeing a vision come to life—especially when it carries so much meaning.

Here’s to beautiful beginnings, thoughtful design, and a little bit of pink magic - congratulations to the team at Andrea Hawkes Bridal on their new beginnings!  ✨
