A Tale of Two Blues: A Bespoke Duo Bringing the Outside In
There’s something truly special about creating for a repeat client —  evolving with their space and their vision. Recently, I had the privilege of crafting a bespoke duo of paintings for a repeat client who previously bought an in stock painting and loved it so much she commissioned another two. This time the paintings were made for their kitchen dining area, a space that seamlessly connects to their lush garden beyond. The brief? A blue-infused palette that not only captures the essence of the outdoors but also complements the warmth of home and brings the outside in with some floral/organic elements. 

The Inspiration: A Window to Nature
With wide glass doors framing their garden, the space already breathes in natural light and greenery. My task was to amplify that feeling—to extend the garden’s energy into the home, creating a visual harmony between inside and out.
Blue became the anchor for this project and a background neutral palette complimented their existing space.

The Process: Layers, Textures, and Depth

Each painting was built in layers, slowly evolving with a sense of movement—an ebb and flow reminiscent of changing skies, organic florals, and the gentle sway of leaves. I played with translucent washes and bold, expressive marks to create depth and fluidity, ensuring that each piece would invite contemplation, much like gazing out at nature itself.
The balance was key. The pieces needed to stand strong individually yet feel effortlessly connected as a pair—each holding its own presence while conversing with the other. I wanted them to feel intuitive, as if they had always belonged in the space.

Framing the Story
The final touch was a solid oak frame—chosen not just for its timeless beauty but for the way its warmth echoes the natural elements within the home. 

A Homecoming
When these painting are finally installed, I am sure they will look like they were always meant for the space. They will act as an anchor to the dining area, drawing the gaze and softening the transition between home and garden. 

Art has a way of making a house feel like home. And in this case, these paintings aren’t just about filling a wall; they’re about holding a moment, a mood, and it is something bespoke to my clients as a couple —forever captured in shades of blue.
